Answer of the questions :
1. Culture is basically defined as a collection of knowledge, experiences, beliefs, attitudes, meanings, hierarchies, religions, conceptions of time, roles, distances, relationships, general concepts, material objects and property of a group of people passed down from generation to generation through individuals and group.
Lack of intercultural awareness and lack of communication in intercultural communication often create misunderstandings. This misunderstanding can cause resentment and distrust from both parties.
Intercultural conflicts cannot be taken lightly. Speaking and acting harshly may be common in one culture, but extraordinary and insulting in another. The failure of daily communication, misunderstanding due to factors of differences in language, differences in cultural backgrounds, exclusive attitudes because they feel expatriate, and other attitudes that are not in accordance with local cultural backgrounds can cause prejudice and are very likely to end with open conflicts that have fatal consequences.
Recognizing, and understanding existing cultural differences is the most important thing. Every culture has its own uniqueness and characteristics; different languages means different cultures. Get rid of prejudice, stereotyping and ethnocentrism. Increase cultural sensitivity, be open to differences and communication skills, and interact appropriately and appropriately.
Intercultural communication competence can be achieved through a process of intercultural sensitivity, intercultural awareness, and multinational recognition, understanding the culture of foreign partners is a must.
2.In my opinion, these two cultures are certainly different, because they have different origins characters and different life style and also the regions. My local culture is very traditional, and still uses old traditions. Meanwhile, many foreign cultures have changed, mixed with the results of globalization so that they have become modern. And in my opinion, local and foreign cultures need to be integrated in order to introduce local cultural traditions to local culture so that local culture can be preserved. So, it is very necessary to become a complete unity so that there is cooperation between cultures without changing the original culture itself.
3.A stereotype is a positive or negative belief that is held against a certain social group. After the emergence of stereotypes, prejudice / prejudice will emerge which is a negative attitude that cannot be justified towards members of the group.
In my own culture, there are stereotypes that are very attached to society, namely such as
Examples of stereotypes in my culture are:
Malays Are Lazy
The stereotype of being lazy, doesn't like to work hard, likes to have fun and likes to spend time chatting in vain are pinned on Malays in general in Riau, including in Pekanbaru. This assumption is not only shared by migrants in Riau, but also recognized by some of the Malays themselves. This stereotype was born from the behavior of Malays who like to hang out in coffee shops and chat to spend all day long. The term to describe the activity of chatting in the coffee shop is 'bragging'. A term to describe that the conversation that is carried out is not important and is just a waste of time. The activities of the Malays are a contrast because at the same time other people are busy working hard. Malays are considered careless. This leisurely activity is the reason for the perception that Malays are lazy.
