1).In understanding foreign cultures, someone needs to understand well the cultures ti avoid cultural conficts.but, many people are failed to understand the value and customs of foreign cultures.according to your own idea, please explain?what do you jeed to have to understand foreign cultures in order to avoid cultural conficts.

Answer:

1.I have to understand beforehand the foreign culture. Whether conflicts that have occurred openly or that are still potential to be open, must immediately and urgently find solutions to reach a resolution. In an effort to find it, of course it cannot be done without knowing the cause or the background. As a society we must be able to start getting to know foreign cultures in order to avoid conflict in our own way, we must be able to:

A. Be critical and conscientious

As the nation's successor, we must be critical and careful about new things that are imported from outside, how can we filter whether this can have a good or bad impact on us. Be critical of something new, ask lots of people who are competent in their fields and be careful whether the innovation is compatible with the Indonesian climate and make sure it does not violate the norms that apply in Indonesia.

B. Expand Science (Science and Technology)

Before entering the foreign culture, we should know clearly and in detail what the incoming innovations are. We can know the benefits of this scientifically, such as the facebook network site. Facebook is currently mushrooming among the public, of all ages, all of them use this site to build ties that have long been broken. But there are some people who abuse Facebook as a means of scorn and humiliation. If we know the initial function of Facebook itself is to establish a relationship, we will not abuse this site to do anything wrong. So we have to know in advance what its function is for and what its benefits are.

C. Must be in accordance with the norms prevailing in Indonesia

The influences of foreign cultures that enter are sometimes not in accordance with the norms that apply in Indonesia. If we watch foreign films, they adhere to a free lifestyle and if applied here violates several existing norms in Indonesia. For example, kissing in public. We often see western films that do intimate scenes in public, this cannot be applied in Indonesia because it violates the norm of decency. Usually in western films, the women party in mini clothes while getting drunk. If that is the case in Indonesia, such customs are not appropriate if we apply them in Indonesia.

Indonesia still holds very thick Eastern customs so that the people here live by the applicable rules and of course they are appropriate according to the customs of politeness. Even though Indonesia has thousands of islands, their customs always teach goodness and do not encourage bad deeds to be done.

2). How do you define your local culture is different from foreign culture?

do you think local and foreign cultures need to be integrated?please provide your reasons.

Answer:

2. Local art culture which should be preserved as the identity of a country or group becomes indifferent to young people. Young people prefer to use foreign art cultures as their hobby, such as Korean, Japanese, and Indian cultures. It is even worse if someone who is very fond of foreign culture is even willing to give up anything to follow the foreign culture so that their own culture is forgotten.

Sadly, foreigners who can be considered as immigrants to our country really like Indonesian culture and even want to learn it. Then why can't the master in his own house introduce more widely the local culture of his own country. Basically local culture such as traditional musical instruments, dances, and languages are considered ancient and not modern. As a society we must be smarter in sorting out the culture that must be imitated and preserved, what's wrong with local culture if local culture can be better than foreign culture and the community must interpret cultural matters as something that is better taught to the surrounding environment and even to our own children. Reduce things that easily affect children's thinking such as foreign cultures that are bad for children's brain development.

3).what is stereotype and prejudice?does it exist in your local culture?give example

Answer:

3. Stereotype is a cognitive structure that contains the recipient's knowledge, beliefs, and expectations regarding human social groups. Stereotypes are a number of false assumptions made by people in all cultures regarding the characteristics of members of other cultural groups that reveal that each society has stereotypes about members, ethics, and racial groups from other societies.

While prejudice is a negative trait towards a group and its members. As a phenomenon of attitude, prejudice can be seen as having three main components, namely:

1) affective component: contains negative feelings or emotions towards the group.

2) cognitive component: includes beliefs that have negative validity towards the group.

3) behavioral component: which refers to behavioral experiences with groups.

The negatives that mark prejudice can come from associations that are emotional in nature, from the need to justify behavior or from negative beliefs called stereotypes. Stereotypes and prejudices fit into my own local culture.
