Many people who go abroad encounter features in their host culture that they may find disturbing. Language is a key component of culture. It is the primary medium for transmitting much of culture. Without language, culture would not be possible because language is the tools of communication. Communication is the transfer of information from one person to another.

One of the types of communication is verbal communication. In verbal communication, or oral communication, one person sends a message to another person or group using speech.

And in this post, we will talk about how verbal communication is symbolic, involves meaning, is relational, is cultural, involves frame, is presentational, and is transactive. Verbal communication involves the use of language. Language is just a collection of symbols that can be arranged in a particular order according to a particular grammar. Language has a grammatical structure, but when used conversationally, it uses cultural and relational assumptions.
