Global Warming is No Joke
The impact of global warming on human life and the environment is not a myth. We realize it or we do not realize, the impact has occurred and affect our daily lives. The effects of global warming are negative and counterproductive to humans and the biodiversity that exists on earth. Although there are several types that benefit from global warming, it is only a small part. Here are five effects of global warming on humans and the environment.
First, climate change becomes unstable. Seasonal changes take the form of longer or shorter season periods. Changes in the season, for example spring, fall, rain, can occur faster and faster, or longer and longer. As we have felt now, usually the dry season occurs in March and the rainy season in October. But today everything is no longer certain.
Secondly, global warming can cause the poles of the earth to melt. The melting of the poles of the earth will create many problems for humans and animals that live on earth. One of them is sea level rise. As global warming increases, sea level will rise, potentially causing flooding. This of course will harm humans.
Third, it causes several diseases for human life. With the increasing amount of carbon dioxide trapped in the atmosphere, the quality of air for breathing is getting worse and harder to obtain. This will have a negative impact on human health. If global warming continues, according to one estimate, the US will spend about 60 billion dollars to combat respiratory illnesses and symptoms.
Fourth, agricultural production has declined. Global warming can affect agriculture. When global temperatures will rise, plants will find it more difficult to survive and will die. As happened in Lombok on October 12, 2019. The long drought in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, at that time caused a drought to the water crisis for daily needs and agriculture. A number of farmers in the southern part of the island of Lombok, failed to harvest.
The last is the extinction of animal species. The occurrence of global warming caused some animals to change their habitat so that they migrate. This migration will cause some animals to not be able to adapt because they will lack food or lose their habitat which will result in the extinction of some animal species. For example, migrating white foxes are unable to compete with red foxes, as published by the BBC article titled "Arctic foxes suffer while red thrive in northern Canada".
In conclusion, global warming can cause a lot of harm to humans, plants and animals. even though all this is caused by humans themselves. Therefore, we must think long before doing something that will harm ourselves.
